| Mei Xurong is Director General and Team Leader Scientist of the Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development in Agriculture (IEDA), Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS). He is also standing DDG of Center for Water Resources and Conservation Technologies, CAAS and president of Chinese Society of Agrometeorology (CSA), China Association of Agricultural Science Societies (CAASS). He has been engaged in the research of agricultural water utilization and management for more than twenty years, and specified in boundary layer vapor flux, SPAC water balance, crop water requirement and productivity, water and food security, etc. He has served in the expert panel of the key project of water-saving agriculture, funded by National High Technology Research and Development Program during the 10th five year plan period (2001-2005), and currently serves in the expert panel of key national project of controlling and managing water body pollution during the period of 2006-2020. He holds B.A. and M.Sc. in Agro-meteorology from China Agriculture University and Graduate School of CAAS, respectively. He received doctoral course of Soil Science in China Agricultural University and training on Water Management in Agriculture in the Faculty of Agriculture, Hebrew University of Israel. He is a standing member of academic committee of CAAS and lectures on agricultural water resource management in the Graduate School of CAAS. He has published more than 70 academic papers and written and served in the editorial boards of more than 10 books. The study he led on regional governance and integrated development of dry land farming in northern China was awarded the second prize of National Science and Technology Progress (2001). In reorganization of his achievements in the researches in water-saving agriculture and water resource management, he was granted government allowance (2001), the prize of MOA Distinguished Young Experts(2004) and the 1st Grande Distinguished Talent of CAAS(2006). |
